Last year, over 87% of students went on to their 1st choice university.
Almost all Wellingtonians go on to the very best in higher education: Oxford, Cambridge, other leading Russell Group universities, the top medical and dental schools, pre-eminent art and drama schools, and Ivy League and other institutions in the USA.
A team of specialist advisers ensures that all students receive expert guidance in all matters of the application process from choosing courses and universities to writing the personal statement. In the Lower Sixth, all pupils undergo a full UCAS induction programme that culminates in the annual University Fair that is held on campus.
Wellington has strong links with a number of Oxbridge Colleges and two members of Common Room are dedicated to Oxbridge applications. The College also provides specialist guidance for applications to American Universities and employs an expert adviser one day a week. The College also runs a SAT preparation course in the Michaelmas Term to prepare candidates for this element of the application process.
In 2015, the most popular universities for departing Wellingtonians were: Durham (28), Edinburgh (27), Bristol (25), Leeds (16), Exeter (15), Oxford (15), UCL (10), Bath (9), Cambridge (9), Birmingham (8), Loughborough (8), Imperial (6), and Newcastle (6).
