Progress
of each pupil in their academic studies is carefully monitored both by the
subject teacher and the personal tutor and there is regular communication with
parents should a problem arises.
Reports
and interims are written six times a year and are available on the parent
portal straight away. Each set of reports or interims is a chance for the tutor
to sit the pupil down and assess progress and the pupil is expected to reflect
on that in his journal. The reports are twice a year whilst the interims are
four times a year. Each term, in addition to an academic report, the pupil
receives a Personal Contribution Grade.
The
purpose of interims and reports is to give pupils feedback on how to improve
their academic studies. Both reports and interims include, for each subject, a
target grade and a grade indicative of progress. They also contain a comment
providing a brief progress review and suggestions for improvement.
Reports
provide a more formal review of performance over a substantial portion of the
year and include the following in addition to teachers’ grades and comments: pupils’
comments, tutor’s comments, HM’s comments and The Master’s comments.
