The Literary Society
The Literary Society meets over lunch in the Upper 10 Room roughly every second week (and at other times), sometimes for free discussion of what we've all been reading, sometimes for discussion of an agreed piece of literature, and sometimes for literary presentations by pupils, staff or guest writers. The invitation is open to anyone who likes books and reading, but is especially pertinent to those with aspirations to high GCSE and A Level results in English, university studies in English, and careers in related fields. Recent sessions have included: "Was Shakespeare Shakespeare?"; "The Bible as Literary Text"; "Why Literature is all about Me"; "The Legitimacy of Blank Verse"; and visits by OW authors and guest speakers.
