Food for Thought

The idea behind "Food for Thought" is for interested pupils and staff to gather several times a term over a meal to hear a short presentation on a subject of intelligent but non-curricular interest, followed by discussion. Conversation is always serious and challenging, but the atmosphere is relaxed and attractive to a diverse, open-minded audience of pupils and staff. The Society is run by a committee of pupils in the Fifth Form (Year 11) and Lower Sixth Form (Year 12). Meetings are usually during dinner on fortnightly Friday evenings in the Wellesley Dining Room. Recent topics for discussion have included: pilgrimage, antimatter, globalisation, Latin American art, our love-hate relationship with America, the importance of political activism, the physics of time, and the role of religion in our world.
