RocSoc

RocSoc has a tradition stretching back over fifteen years and has nurtured some of the country's finest pop music talent, including Ed Harcourt. As the society for rock music, it provides pupils with a safe facility for band rehearsals with a dedicated rehearsal and recording studio, 'Shabby Road'. The rehearsal studio is well equipped with amplifiers, drum kit and PA. Bands can sign up for regular practice sessions in the rehearsal studio. Each band is entitled to 90 minutes studio time per week.

RocSoc members are encouraged to perform as bands wherever possible, both inside and outside school, and most bands take part in the annual Battle of the Bands competition, which regularly attracts very high profile judges (past judges include Status Quo). AS and A2 level music technology students are trained in the use of the recording facilities and are encouraged to work together with RocSoc bands, giving RocSoc members the chance to record their own CDs.
