Skiing
For skiing read competitive alpine skiing, and training for competitions in Europe.
We regularly take pupils to a training camp in les Deux Alpes in December, and enter pupils for international competitions in January (boys and girls separately) and March (combined).
Pupils who have confirmed places at Wellington for September are eligible, and parents should contact Bethan Thomas who organises ski racing at Wellington
Last season we entered groups of girls and boys for the Schools Skiing championships in Flaine and les Menuires in January, and les Houches in March. No individual winners unfortunately, but three or four days of intensive skiing and great fun.
Starting at the end of September we are running race training on a weekly basis for the Wellington 'espoirs' - a training group preparing for competion in December to March. We believe that training on a dry slope will keep pupils ski-fit and has very positive benefits for edge control on hard surfaces the sorts of icy surfaces we met last January in France. We do this if we have sufficient uptake to make the trip to Aldershot viable.
