Chris Hutchinson

Chris's show can be seen in the V&A

"I took up photography in the late 1950’s in an attempt to portray the last steam trains in Britain’s urban landscape. I have travelled a long way since then, producing images of summer and winter landscapes, unconventional portraits and humorous pictures.

"However, rather than simply take pictures, I wanted to create them. I wanted to set up and photograph situations which couldn’t simply be seen, for example, by walking along the road.

"I thought I would try to create new images using one of the most familiar objects around: the human body. After all, I meet lots of people every day and every one of them seems to have a body. As part of my project I decided to take my camera underwater.

"Some of the results are in this exhibition. Hopefully you will find images that you like and some you find interesting. I like to amuse and confuse my viewers."
