Ben Greenslade-Stanton
Jazz Musician-in-Residence
Wellington College welcomed Ben Greenslade-Stanton as Jazz Musician-in-Residence from January - June 2008.
Ben is a professional brass player from Australia: his main instrument is Trombone. Trained in music from a very young age, Ben dedicated himself to Jazz and Popular music - his stylistic scope is based on Big Band, Jazz and music from South America.
He has performed and recorded throughout the UK, playing Jazz, Big Band, Funk, Soul, Pop & Hip Hop. He played in Beverley Knight's horn section, and has toured and performed with Prince, La Receta Salsa Band, The Argonauts, Flat Caps, Gizelle Smith, The Mighty Mocambos and many others. He has also co-produced, and directed with the LjC (London Jazz Collective) Big Band, and has recently performed in Michael Garrick's Big Band, Steve Taylor Big Band, Big Band Metheny, Hot Orange Big Band, NYJO, BBC Big Band and many others.
As Jazz Musician-in-Residence, Ben worked with the Wellington College Big Band and small jazz ensembles. His first public appearance was at a concert on Friday 14th March at 8 p.m. in the Old Gym at Wellington College.
Ben has now been appointed in a permanent role working as Head of Jazz,Rock and Pop, and can be found in the Music Department.
