Arts
Wellington's Performing Arts provide a fabulous set of opportunities for our pupils. We aim to accommodate all-comers, both those with considerable experience and those who want to try something for the first time, be it as a straight actor, a musical theatre specialist, a dancer, a juggler or an ambitious playwright. No one is unwelcome.
We stage a major production every half-term, and there is at least one major event undertaken with the Music Department every year. There is a strong movement at present to put on events that embrace both dance and drama, and there is a growing body of independent productions mounted by staff and pupils. A Third Form Drama Club brings on the younger stars, and is run in part by older pupils.
Foundation, inter and advanced classes are offered in dance as well as a range of other styles to suit the talents of those who want to dance outside of the curriculum. We have run sessions for flamenco, jazz, modern, contemporary and street, and there are regular showcases of this work.
Specialist teachers are available for coaching pupils who wish to take LAMDA and New Era exams, and our Theatre Technician provides professional fulltime technical support.
