Fees

Registration fee

A non-refundable Registration Fee of £200 is payable when a pupil's name is first registered for entry.

Acceptance Deposit

An Acceptance Deposit of £1,300 is required by the College when a boy or girl is offered a place at Wellington College, in order to confirm definite candidature.

In addition to the Acceptance Deposit, an additional Overseas Deposit of £8,725 is required from parents not resident in the United Kingdom.

The Acceptance Deposit and Overseas Deposit will be retained in the general funds of the College until the pupil leaves and will be repaid by means of a credit without interest to the final payment of fees or other sums due to the College on leaving, unless stated otherwise in the Terms and Conditions or unless the parents wish to donate the Acceptance Deposit to the College.

Administration Fee

An administration fee of £200 is payable by the parents of each pupil on acceptance of a place. This fee is non-refundable.

College Fees

Fees are charged termly in advance and for 2011 - 2012 are as follows:

  • Boarding £10,025 per term
  • Day Fee (in boarding houses) £8,515 per term
  • Day Fee £7,515 per term

The fees are inclusive of all the normal maintenance and recreational requirements of the pupil. For boarders, they include the provision of linen (except towels), laundry, maintenance and reasonable repair of clothes (but not marking, dry cleaning or shoe repair), games, physical education, swimming, normal medical treatment in the College sanatorium, and personal accident and dental insurance cover.

Fee reviews

It is the policy of the Governors to review fees annually, changes taking place for the Michaelmas (Autumn) term. However, they reserve the right to increase fees or impose surcharges at other times if circumstances warrant it. Fee increases are normally notified to parents by the Vice-President at the end of the Summer term.

Extras

So far as is possible 'extras' are kept to a minimum, but charges are made for the following:

  • Sixth Form charge - There is an extra charge of £86.50, charged termly, for pupils in the sixth form.
  • Combined Cadet Force (CCF) - an annual charge of £80, charged termly, is paid by all members of the CCF except Foundationers. Additional charges are made for attendance at annual camps, training weekends and for lost or damaged clothing or equipment.
  • Field courses and educational visits - some educational courses require field trips or visits to the theatre or concerts, for example. Charges for these will normally be made as sundries on College bills.
  • Club and society subscriptions - some sports outside the normal games curriculum, such as sailing, shooting, fencing and sub-aqua levy charges to cover their costs, and these are charged as sundries on fee accounts.
  • Examination fees - all public examination fees and costs are charged to parents.
  • Medical appointments - if a pupil has to be taken to a doctor, dentist, hospital or see any other specialist, the cost of providing a car and driver is charged on College bills.
  • Overnight accommodation - day pupils who stay overnight are charged £38 per night.
  • Instrumental music tuition - each year the College makes a recommendation to its visiting music teachers on the rate they should charge. The recommended fee is £227 for 10 lessons per instrument per term, payable direct to the appropriate music teacher on receipt of an invoice. This applies to all pupils being taught by visiting teachers; music scholars and those in receipt of instrumental bursaries will be reimbursed through the College fees account.
In addition, the College makes a small administration charge of £12.50 in respect of pupils learning musical instruments.
Music sundries may be supplied by either the visiting teacher or the College and will be charged appropriately.
AS and A2 Level music candidates may have lessons on one instrument free of charge.
  • Old Wellingtonian society - a charge is made each term throughout a pupil's time at College which provides for life membership of the O.W. society; this includes receipt of the Wellington year book for life. This charge may be varied as the O.W. society may from time to time determine. Those staying at College for the full five year period will be charged £43 per term in 2011 - 2012. Those staying for shorter periods pay a pro rata amount. For instance those entering the Sixth Form for two years will pay £107.50 per term.

Special Fees

Fees for Foundationers are individually assessed under rules laid down by the governors.

Eagle House

  • Boarders £6,350 per term
  • Day £4,740 per term
  • Reception, Pre-Prep year 1 & 2 £2,960 per term
  • Nursery £1,790.00 per term (5 mornings)

Fees in Advance Scheme

The College operates its own scheme to provide for the deposit of lump sums to be used for the payment of College fees for future years. The lump sum payments may be made by parents, grandparents or anyone wishing to make provision for a child's education. By paying a lump sum in advance of a pupil's entry to Wellington, it is possible to show a significant saving, depending on interest rates at the time of payment and the length of time before entry to the College. Payment in this way does not guarantee a place in the College.
