More record results for Wellington College
Following the record improvement in the A-level results last week at Wellington College, the independent co-educational school in Berkshire, the school today reported a set of best-ever results at GCSE, with pupils achieving 70 per cent A* and A grades for the first time.
This result is a 12 per cent improvement on the previous year, which was also a record for the school. Almost a fifth of the cohort, 23 pupils, got all A* and A grades, with five of them achieving at least 10 A* grades each. All the candidates achieved 5 A*-C grades. This cohort of pupils is below average when compared with all pupils attending independent schools, according to the University of Durham baseline MiDYIS tests, so the results demonstrate a significant 'value-add' from the education they have received at Wellington.
Dr Seldon, the Master of Wellington College, said: "These achievements are the result of much hard work from the pupils and staff alike, and all the more impressive because the outcome for this cohort has far exceeded what might be expected academically. The level of value being added to these pupils is astonishing.
"I am delighted by these results which are a testament to the positive academic ethos that now is seen at Wellington College. I congratulate all of the pupils and my staff on these improvements in academic performance across the board."
