Most improved large independent school in England 2005-07, Financial Times
- A Level results 2008 - 57% at A grade, highest ever, and over 96% A-C, again, the school's highest ever. 60 candidates attained straight A grades with all Oxbridge candidates attaining their offers.
- AS Level results 2008 - The percentage of AB grades was up 10% on the school's previous best, which puts the school on course for over 90% A and B grades at A Level in 2009.
- GCSE results 2008 - We are absolutely delighted that this year group achieved 61.5% of grades A and A*.
Congratulations to them all.
Wellington remains on course to become a premier division academic school by 2011 (over 90% of grades A and B at A level or IB equivalent and over 80% of grades A and A* at GCSE). The College might indeed hit this target in 2009. The College has a long term strategy for its academic development, having moved from 3rd division in 2005, through 2nd division in 2006 and 1st division in 2007 and 2008. The College's policy is organic growth and to retain all pupils who are already in the school as long as they display a determination to work and behave well.
League Tables
On league tables, Dr Anthony Seldon, the Master, has been a long term critic, praising their utility but also analysing their many shortcomings.

Wellington will be withdrawing from league tables in 2010 when the first IB cohorts receive their results, which will render league table positions meaningless for us.
