Music Scholars' Recital
Music Scholars' Recital: Seelin Ho and Rob Quaile, Friday, 10th February
Reviewers: Amy Tress and Emily Winkworth (Apsley, Lower Sixth)
On Friday 10th February, a highly appreciative audience watched a very high quality joint recital by Seelin Ho (Ap) and Rob Quaile (A), including music from Mozart to Lloyd Webber. The concert began with Seelin's expert piano recital with challenging preludes by Shostakovitch which were pulled off seemingly with ease. This followed a Mozart sonata and an impromptu in G flat by Schubert. Her recital ended with "I Got Rhythm" by Gershwin which was technically outstanding and played with great energy.
Rob's recital featured mainly singing, but also showed his talent on the clarinet with his clarinet quartet, and on the guitar with Ollie Smith (H) and Conor Turley (A) with whom he played some of their own songs. He was joined later in the programme by Emily Winkworth (Ap), singing a duet by Lloyd Webber from the well known "Phantom of the Opera". He then finished with a song from Smokey Joe's Café.
Thanks very much to Seelin and Rob, who both performed to an extremely high standard and both captivated and entertained their audience.
