Wellington's Art Festival 2010
Wellington College's third Arts Festival takes place from Sunday 27th June till Thursday 1st July.
This year the College has re-written the rule book of what's possible with the festival and it has blossomed into a festival of music harmony and artistic and creative beauty involving the absolute cream of music and the arts from both within the College and nationally.
The festival will play host to Magnum Group photographer Martin Parr with a week long exhibition of his 'Luxury' collection and also a talk about his experiences. Amanda Wakeley, one of the UK's foremost fashion designers, will also be presenting some of her work and will be interviewed by Guardian columnist Heather McGregor. The Sunday will include performance of the internationally renowned London Mozart Players. Comedy will come to the fore on the Wednesday with performances from Greg Davies (the teacher from 'The Inbetweeners', Channel 4), Ed Gamble and Tom Deacon (Radio 1 and BBC Switch presenter). The exceptionally talented guitarist Gordon Giltrap will once again be performing following the release of a new studio album. Unusually the College will also play host to two men DJ-ing out of their own garden shed in the form of 'The Disco Shed'.
Other events will include Wellington's very own talent competition 'Welly's Got Talent' with judges, buzzers and all the glitz and glam of the national talent competition. Throughout the week the College's production of 'Billy Elliot: The Musical' will also be gracing the stage. Artistic talent will excel with the London based collective called 'Clinic' attending the College to curate a space of art, poetry and musical performance. The festival will culminate in a musical extravaganza on the outdoor stage with performances by the rising talent of Tall Ships (Falmouth), Tellison (Kingston), Tubelord (Kingston) and Johnny Foreigner (Birmingham).
