Master i/c Cricket Mr. G. Franklin, gdf@wellingtoncollege.org.uk

The College has unrivalled cricket facilities with a magnificent 1st XI pitch that is the envy of many. We regularly field 17 teams on Saturdays on a highly competitive circuit and the OWCC is also flourishing. We benefit from 9 outstanding grass pitches, 5 indoor cricket nets and a number of outdoor artificial and grass practice wickets (including a recently installed block of 6 top quality artificial nets).

The standard of coaching is second to none. The current Master i/c is an ECB Level 4 qualified coach and the Common Room comprises a number of ex county players. Pupils benefit from a 12 month holistic training programme that focuses on individual skill development of cricketers of all ages throughout the College. Specialist professional coaches are integrated into the programme as and when required.

The 1st XI regularly tour abroad in an attempt to develop players' cricketing skills in different, less familiar environments. Wellington competes in an end of term festival, along with Sedbergh, Oakham & Brighton.  Girls' cricket is also beginning to thrive, with a Festival with Brighton, Cranleigh and Epsom added to the fixture card. Wellington College hosted a prep school cricket tournament in June 2010 with Prep Schools competing from all over the country and this provided a fantastic day of sport and we hope for the same in 2011.

We have more information about this year's cricket on our intranet. Please click this link to be taken there.
