Master in charge of Rugby: Mr Kevin Brennan

Captain of Rugby 2011/12: Ollie Williams (Hg)

We have long been renowned for our excellence in rugby, which is the major boys' sport in the Michaelmas (autumn) term. In 2008 the 1st XV and Under 15's won theDaily Mail National Cup - the first and only school to win both trophies in the same year. In 2009 the 1st VII won the Rosslyn Park National Schoolboy 7s;2010 saw further successes for the College with the U15's again reaching the final of theDaily Mail NationalCup; losing narrowly 7-10, and the 1st VII finishing runners-up in the Rosslyn Park National Schoolboy 7s.The 1st VII reclaimed the Rosslyn Park National Schoolboy 7s title for a record extending tenth time in 2011 in what was a third consecutive final for the College.

The College has a number of teachers on its staff who are exceptionally well qualified to coach rugby. The current Master i/c is a former professional player with London Irish and Oxford University captain and the common room comprises of the current England U16 coach, as well as a number of Oxford and Cambridge blues. They do most of the coaching, and this is supplemented by a number of professional coaches who come into College to deliver specialist coaching and staff education.

The College is particularly proud of the number of boys that take part in the sport, and regularly fields more than 22 sides on a Saturday afternoon versus opposition schools. With the completion of the new Monro Pavilion in August 2009, with it's magnificent viewing balcony overlooking our main rugby pitch, and a successful recent tour to South Africa in 2011, we will continue to try and build on a reputation of inclusion, excellence and sportsmanship.
