CLOTHING LISTS

Extract from Governors' Rules

"The clothes to be brought by each boy or girl on admission, and on return after each vacation, must be according to (and not less than) the regulation list.  Each article must be in good condition, mended, and marked with name, school number and House.  The number of articles must not be allowed at any stage of the time at school to drop below the regulation requirements."

The College Shop is operated by Sodexho in association with Lester Bowden Ltd.

  1. The Clothing List details the numbers of items required for College Dress and gives some guidance about style and colour.  No attempt is made to give comprehensive instructions, but cut and pattern are expected to conform to normal standards.  Housemasters/mistresses can give further guidance in cases of doubt.
  2. Pupils are permitted to wear Informal Dress of their own choice at specified times, and this clothing is required in addition to that required on the Clothing List.
  3. Most items on the Clothing List are available at the College Shop ('Grubbies') and parents are advised to make their purchases there.  Items exclsuive to Wellington, such as College sweaters or rugby shirts, can be obtained only at the College Shop and are indicated by an asterisk *.
  4. Some second-hand items may be available through the College Shop.
  5. All clothing should be CLEAN, PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND WELL-FITTING.  It is essential that the number of items specified be supplied and that every item is in a condition to last a full term's hard wear.
  6. Please ensure personal items of clothing, not exclusive to Wellington, that are to be washed, are shrink resistant and colour fast and capable of being tumble dried.  Items requiring special treatment should be avoided.  The College will not accept responsibility for damage incurred during treatment by the College laundry if the above conditions are not met.
  7. Dry cleaning is available but there will be an additional charge for this service.
  8. Pupils look after their own clothes and do their own packing.  Laundry is supervised by a House Matron.  Nothing can be forwarded in the holidays.
  9. Cleaning and limited repairs can be arranged through the HouseMatron. When a House Matronkeeper declares an article beyond her capability, it must be repaired professionally or replaced.
  10. In all in-College Houses, provision has been made to store trunks underneath the built-in beds.  Please do not send anything larger than a 'standard' trunk (approximate dimensions: height 35cm, width 54cm, length 92cm).  You are advised to provide a lockable tuck box for the safe-keeping of valuables; tuck boxes are available for sale in the College Shop.

Pupils are expected to be smart, tidy and business-like in their College attire.  All pupils are expected to take pride in their personal appearance.  All clothing should be named, clean, properly maintained and well-fitting.
