Apprentice Groundsperson

Department: Grounds (Works and Estates)
Reports to: Head Groundsman
Salary: £5 per hour (£200 per week)
Type of Contract:  Fixed-term, Apprenticeship
Hours per week: 40, Full-time
Weeks per year: 52
Closing Date: 5th February 2018 at 5pm (we reserve the right to invite to interview before the closing date)

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a passion for working outdoors in all weather. The apprentice will work towards achieving a Level 2 Sports Turf Maintenance qualification whilst working for the College. Good attention to detail and a desire to maintain the highest standards of presentation are essential.

Under the direction of the experienced Head Groundsman and his team, the apprentice will be responsible for the up-keep and maintenance of our many and varied sports pitches with a focus on the cricket grounds. They will also work closely with the Sports Department to ensure that all sports surfaces are prepared and set for each season.

The successful applicant will need a degree of flexibility as some weekend work will be required throughout the year.

A full valid driving license is essential as some work will involve driving on areas open to the public and on public highways.

The apprenticeship is offered in conjunction with Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) and will involve attendance at BCA one day per week.

Groundsperson

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Grounds Person who will be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of our excellent sporting pitches and facilities which are host to a variety of exciting sporting events throughout the year.

Experience of high profile sports ground preparation and maintenance is preferred and an outstanding work ethic essential.

Some extra hours will be required during the week, weekends and over Bank Holidays throughout the year for which time off in lieu will be granted.

Vacancies within the Domestic Services Department

The Domestic Services Department is essential to the smooth running of the College, ensuring that all areas are cleaned and maintained safely and to the highest standard. The Department is comprised of Cleaning, Housekeeping, Matron, Laundry and Logistical Services staff members and constantly strives to achieve excellence in its service provision.


Housekeeper

Department: Domestic Services

We are currently seeking to appoint a conscientious and effective team worker to undertake the role of Housekeeper, who will be responsible for ensuring that the Domestic Standards of boarding houses are maintained and that pupil laundry and bed linen is prepared for collection.

The working pattern for this role is 07:30 – 11:30 for 4 days per week and 07:30 – 18:00 on alternate Saturdays.

During College holidays the pattern may vary but the weekly hours remain the same.

Cleaner

Chef de Partie

Initially for a 12-month fixed term period, the successful candidate will be required to study towards an NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery whilst in the role.  Experience of working within the Catering and Hospitality industry is desirable.

Fitness Instructor

Wellington Health and Fitness Club are seeking to appoint a pro-active and enthusiastic Fitness Instructor who will be responsible for providing a first-class fitness service to our members and pupils.

The gym has just undergone a complete refurbishment programme in December with a full suite of Precor CV and resistance equipment, Milon Circuit as well as a full general works refurbishment programme. In addition to the main gym, our functional training room (The Qube) has also undergone a complete refurbishment programme with a new Queenax rig and flooring.

The post holder will also be responsible for conducting member inductions and fitness assessments, teaching small Group X classes in the Qube as well as ensuring the maintenance and safety of our fitness equipment in line with health and safety requirements. There is also the opportunity to conduct PT sessions outside of your regular shifts.

You should be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 and Level 3 is desirable but not essential. The post includes working evenings and weekends.
