At Wellington College we are looking for students who are adept at applying their current knowledge to new situations. The academic scholarship examination papers are structured with the aim of giving students opportunities to apply existing knowledge in unfamiliar situations. Students will be rewarded for developing their answers with the use of recognised concepts and case studies, for clarity of thought and critical thinking. In addition, candidates are provided with new material; we are keen to see how they respond to it, in particular whether they are able to take hints and run with them.
We are interested to see how students approach questions, particularly the precision and structure of their answers. Individual, logical approaches rather than formulaic or pre-prepared ones will be rewarded. We are looking for real engagement and clarity of thought.
