There was a palpable sense of excitement in the air as over a thousand Wellingtonians made their way to the College quads for this year’s Carnival. The event, which kick starts the new academic year, sees over 50 student- and staff-run co-curricular societies keen to showcase their activities and add new students to their number.
Pupils had the chance to sign up for the Field Gun team, or join MUN, or get involved in Robotics. If those didn’t float boats then Life Drawing, History of Art, Politics and Debating were on offer. This year’s three productions – Birdsong, Into the Woods, and Treasure Island were all keen to attract auditioners, as were the various Dance troupes – Ballet, Contemporary, Street, or Acro for the adventurous. Creative Writing, LitSoc, Law, or DukeBox and WTV (the College radio and TV stations) all attracted plenty of interest, as did the Skiing and Scuba clubs.
There was something for everyone, and if variety is the spice of life, then the Carnival was full of lip-tingling anticipation!
