“Ahead of the Curve”

Join us in the beautiful setting of Wellington College to hear some excellent speakers and think together about our work as counsellors in schools.  Those working with young people in other settings, or considering working in schools are also very welcome to join us for a day of learning and networking.

This year’s speakers include:

Gillian Bridge – author of “The Significance Delusion” and an expert on brain, language and behaviour and how it affects our experience of life. Gillian is committed to challenging some of the orthodoxies surrounding our attitudes to mental health and resilience. Gillian will be speaking on: “180° from the Selfie – the “I”, Resilience and the Current Adolescent Mental Health Crisis”

Dave Chawner – author, award-winning comic and presenter. At the age of 17 Dave developed anorexia nervosa. His recent book ‘Weight Expectations: One man’s recovery from Anorexia’ became a best-seller just 3 days after being released in June 2018. Dave will be speaking on “My lived experience with anorexia”

Dr. Niki King and Emma Payne – Counsellors at Portsmouth Grammar School. Niki and Emma will be speaking on: “Counselling at The Portsmouth Grammar School – a Whole School Approach”

Gill Denne – Lead Counsellor at Wellington College. Gill will be giving the opening Welcome Address.

Maria Storey Walker – Counsellor at Wellington College. Maria will be speaking on: “A Transpersonal Perspective on Adolescence”
