Cats, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot, and produced by Cameron Mackintosh. It tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicle’s who make what is known as “the Jellicle choice” and decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn. As of 2016, Cats is the fourth-longest-running show in Broadway history, the sixth-longest-running West End musical, and has been translated into more than 20 languages. Wellington’s version of this eccentric musical will welcome back all of the much loved characters like Skimbleshanks, Rum Tum Tugger and the infamous Macavity. It is sure to be an evening full of singing, dancing, tails and lots of stage makeup!
