International University Success

  • This year, Wellingtonians are celebrating a record number of offers from international universities, with the largest percentage coming from the United States. Twenty-six U6th pupils submitted more than 150 applications to universities on foreign shores.

Along with our two golfers, Edoardo and Ryan, heading to Northwestern and the University of Illinois on athletic scholarships, Wellington pupils will be attending some of the best institutions in the world next autumn.

Steve Fenoglio, Wellington’s International Higher Education Advisor, says, “Stanford, McGill, UC-Berkeley, and Harvard are some of the well-known institutions OWs will attend next year, but I am equally impressed with the diversity of the schools and colleges to which many Wellington pupils applied. Institutions like the University of Michigan, the Rhode Island School of Design, Georgia Tech, Swarthmore and Harvey Mudd (CA) are all top-ranked universities, but are not very well known here in the UK. It shows that Wellingtonians are going beyond the typical destinations and determining the best institution for them. It’s a testament to the hard-working students here at Wellington and a positive sign for the future.”

Interest in the US and beyond is only continuing to grow at Wellington College. Being a nominating school for three elite US scholarships and an SAT Centre, and also with an ever-improving academic record and an increasing number of OWs studying abroad, Wellington is very well-placed to support any pupil looking to pursue further education beyond the UK.
