The final of the Montgomery Singing competition took place on Tuesday 26 April in the Old Gym.

Twelve finalists were selected from more than thirty pupils who took part in the heats, each performing their programme of two contrasting songs. They were accompanied on the piano by Mr David Malusa.

The evening was adjudicated by the renowned singer and visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music, Yvonne Howard who was most impressed with what was a wonderful evening of music. The pupils wowed us with their varied singing styles, intelligent musicality and performance skills making the adjudicator’s job a very tricky one!

Well done to everyone who sang, with special congratulations to Amelia and Andres who were highly commended, runners-up Alice and Deuce, and to Emilie for her winning performance of Mozart’s ‘Dans un bois solitaire’ and ‘My Lagan Love’ a traditional Irish song.
