2015 marks the 200th anniversary of the Duke of Wellington’s great victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, a hugely significant moment in our country’s military and political history.  While people all around the UK and beyond will be commemorating the event, pupils and staff at Wellington College, for whom the battle has a particular significance, will be making their own history.

To commemorate the event a group of pupils and staff from Wellington College will be taking on an unprecedented three day endurance ultra-triathlon from Wellington College to Waterloo.  Starting on 27 June 2015, relay teams will run from Wellington College to Dover (175km), swim the Channel from Dover to Calais (32km), and cycle from Calais to Waterloo (218km).

The aim of this pupil-led project is two-fold: firstly to show what extraordinary achievements can be realised through teamwork; secondly, and most importantly, to raise money for Help for Heroes, the charity which supports soldiers wounded in Britain’s conflicts, and their families, and which endeavours to help those who have made such great sacrifices on our behalf achieve their full potential.
