Flourishing matters. Flourishing particularly matters in schools. In cross-sectional, longitudinal and experimental studies, high levels of flourishing have been shown to enhance pupil outcome, learning, productivity, creativity, good relationships, pro-social behaviour, good health and life expectancy. Teachers and school staff are not, however, all flourishing. School teaching, for example, is recognised globally as one of the most stressful jobs (Lhospital & Gregory 2009). This short course will introduce the concept of flourishing and cover practical ways to boost flourishing across a school. It will focus on how to enhance, positive relationships, meaning and purpose, engagement, autonomy, optimism, mental and physical health and life satisfaction.
