All Wellingtonians have the opportunity to hear from leading voices and thought-leaders from the worlds of science, politics, business and education through our Fireside Talk series. Every Monday during term time, a guest speaker shares their experiences, encouraging students to engage with ideas beyond the confines of exam syllabi and to question their preconceptions. The series exposes students to speakers whose perspectives differ significantly across disciplines and lived experiences. In doing so, students learn to listen actively, question constructively and “disagree agreeably,” strengthening both their communication skills and their ability to reason ethically when navigating competing claims. Recent talks have included Baroness Susan Greenfield, Lord Chris Smith, Bob Skinstad, Sir Charles Dunstone, Professor David Herd, Professor Yang-Hui He and Ben Chu.
