From The Week Independent Schools Guide, Autumn/Winter 2022
It should come as no surprise that a school named after one of the UK’s most famous soldiers and located very close to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, has a thriving Combined Cadet Force (CCF). Wellington has four CCF divisions: Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force – plus a drum corps, a field gun course and, unusually, a cavalry section. The CCF syllabus is split between military skills and adventure training, and aims to develop leadership qualities in young people via activities such as orienteering, first aid, flying, survival exercises, climbing and kayaking. House competition is fierce, especially when teams are tackling the college’s challenging assault course.
James Dahl, Master, commented,
“Very proud the outstanding @Welly_CCF provision @WellingtonUK has been acknowledged by @TheWeekUK in their ‘Best of the Best’ Independent Schools Guide. From Drum Corps to Colour Party, from Field Gun to Marines, so many opportunities to be challenged & excel.
