This year marked a major milestone for Wellington College as we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Heads of Schools Conference, a cornerstone event in our calendar that has inspired and connected young leaders from across the UK and beyond for two decades.

Since its inception, the conference has provided a unique opportunity for Head Boys and Head Girls to come together, share experiences and develop their leadership skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. This year’s edition, themed “Flourishing as Leaders – The Algebra of Happiness,” continued that proud tradition, encouraging students to explore how to lead with purpose, balance and authenticity.

Held on Friday 10th October, the conference welcomed over 100 head students, including delegates from our partner schools and some from as far afield as Paris and Aberdeen. The day began with a warm welcome from Wellington’s Heads of College, Georgie and Dan, who set an energising and inclusive tone before Mr Dahl officially opened the event in Great School.

The morning featured an inspiring keynote presentation from Dr Granville-Chapman, who challenged students to reflect on what it means to flourish as leaders and how an understanding of neuro-science can help us lead well. Delegates then took part in a series of interactive breakout sessions: Connect, Inspire and Flourish, expertly led by Wellington prefects. These sessions fostered collaboration, idea-sharing and practical learning, as students explored how leadership can shape positive change within their communities.
