We welcome pupils, parents and staff to celebrate Speech Day 2019 with us in the iconic Wellington Big Top. Enjoy a showcase event of the years activities, prize giving’s and speeches from the College community. The annual house picnics on Turf will take place from 12.30, along with an assortment of outdoor events including the Cavalry Charge, Gun Run, Exhibitions and full school Call Over.
Two e-tickets will be automatically issued per pupil via email to the primary email we have on ISAMS, with a very small number of additional e-tickets available to book online should families require more than their automatic allocation. The additional tickets will be bookable on a first come, first served basis from the online booking system.
Bottled Water – A Message from the Student Body
In the interest of sustainability, please note bottled water will not be provided in the Speech Day big top. This initiative has been driven by the student body who would like to send the following message:
We are writing to you on behalf of the sustainability team who this year have taken huge steps in reducing Wellington’s environmental impact. In association with the Environmental Society, we have introduced Meat-Free Mondays to reduce our carbon footprint, and have promoted the use of reusable coffee cups. Through a Soup Day, we raised £1000 for the installation of water fountains and the provision of reusable metal water bottles to pupils and staff.
As you may know, currently only 9% of plastics are recycled worldwide, the rest sent to landfill or ending in the oceans, choking marine life who generate 50% of the air we breathe. By 2050, the pieces of plastic in the oceans are set to outnumber fish. To reduce the College’s plastic footprint, we have taken the initiative to eradicate plastic bottles on Speech Day, as this has contributed to the huge volume of plastic waste in the past.

10.00: Speech Day show and ceremony starts in the Big Top
12.30: House picnics on Turf and afternoon activities commence
15.45: Concert Band on South Front
16.00: Sword of Honour and Drum Corps, Pupils’ Medals and Master’s Callover
17.00: Speech Day ends

TWO automatic tickets are issued per pupil via email to the primary email on ISAMS e.g. one current pupil at Wellington equals two tickets, two current pupils at Wellington equals four tickets.
