In the heart of Wellington College, the walls of the Art department are alive with colour, creativity, and stories of success. This summer, those walls now glow even brighter, as our students’ achievements in the Art department have reached dazzling new heights.

The results are nothing short of extraordinary. Every single student who sat the Art History IB exam earned a perfect Grade 7, a testament to their dedication and passion for understanding the complexities of art across the ages. In Visual Art IB, 100% of our pupils secured top marks, with all achieving either a Grade 7 or 6, a feat that speaks volumes about their talent and the department’s nurturing environment.

At A Level, the triumph continued. Art Textiles, Photography, and Fine Art students achieved a remarkable 100% A*-A grades, a resounding celebration of their commitment and innovation. Each piece of work produced was a reflection of countless hours of effort and the boundless imagination our pupils bring to their craft.

Alice Carpenter, Head of Art, commented on the successful news “As we celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our departing students, I am filled with immense pride and joy. Their dedication has led to exceptional results, and their creativity and hard work have set a new benchmark for excellence. Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the success of our art school applicants as they embark on their new journeys. Our leavers secured prestigious placements at institutions like Cambridge for Architecture, Brown University for Liberal Arts, Central Saint Martins for Fashion, and Edinburgh for Textiles. Their determination and talent promise to bring new vibrancy to these renowned institutions. As a department we are deeply proud of their achievements and excited to see how they will continue to shape the world of art and design in their future endeavours.”

On top of these incredible results, we also celebrate the success of recent leaver OW Amelie Rosco, who has just been awarded first prize in the prestigious Write On Art competition. Her talent with both words and images has earned her this incredible accolade, placing her among the very best young artists in the country.

As we reflect on these accomplishments, it’s clear that the Art department is more than just a place to learn. It’s a space where creativity flourishes, and where our students, with their incredible talents, continue to create a legacy of brilliance.
