“Every decision you make has the power to create a new parallel universe”
The Lent Term Junior School play was an explosive interpretation of Tuesday, by multi award-winning playwright Alison Carr. The Third and Fourth Form blew us away with this witty, fast-moving play that combined sci-fi with everyday school life, and which included themes spanning family and friends, coping with grief, bullying and loneliness, not to mention theories of the multiverse!
Ms Anderson couldn’t have picked a better script for her first show at Wellington which kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The performance was complemented by a soundtrack written by Benedict K (U6, Bn), which perfectly captured the sci-fi mood.
The cast were all brilliant, with stand out performances from Tessa S (3, Hn), Freddie G (4, L), Georgia H (4, O), Ralph M (4, Bl), Bolli S (4, R) and Olly F (4, T).
Covid interruptions resulted in some performers being drafted at the last minute into understudy roles. If it wasn’t for Ms Anderson briefing the audience before the show, I wonder how many would have noticed the last minute changes? After agreeing to their new roles, coincidentally on ‘Tuesday’, the day before the live performance, Sophie O (3, W), Alexa H (3, Ap), and Zinnat K (3, A), performed with aplomb.
The enjoyment of the cast in their performance was evident and this resonated in the audience’s rapturous applause. This group of young actors and actresses certainly have a bright future ahead of them.
Mr Dahl summed up the evening perfectly:
‘Bravissimo to Ms Anderson & the cast of the junior play ‘Tuesday’ on such a terrific show, not without its challenges over the past few days. It was SO good to have live drama & a live audience once again, and plenty of talent in the 3rd & 4th Form’
