On Wednesday 8th May, the GWA stage lit up with energy, artistry and celebration as it welcomed talented dancers from across the county for the Berkshire Independent Schools Dance Festival 2025. The festival, a highlight in the performing arts calendar, offers young dancers the chance to perform, compete and connect—showcasing the very best of contemporary, lyrical, jazz, modern, street and commercial dance.

With schools from across Berkshire taking part, the festival was a dynamic display of creativity and technical excellence. The atmosphere was electric, filled with mutual support and a shared love of dance that transcended competition.

Wellington College dancers delivered a series of outstanding performances, earning first place in three of the four major categories: Jazz solos, Contemporary groups, and Commercial groups, as well as a second-place finish in Lyrical solos. From upbeat and technically brilliant jazz routines, to emotive contemporary storytelling, to a crowd-pleasing high-energy Janet Jackson-inspired commercial mix, the Wellington dancers impressed judges and audiences alike.

More than just a competition, the festival was a celebration of collaboration, artistry and community. Dancers from all schools showed incredible sportsmanship, cheering each other on and creating an atmosphere of encouragement and positivity.

Congratulations to our brilliant performers, who represented Wellington College with confidence, grace and passion:
