College Carnival 2026

With societies and clubs lining Great School and Waterloo Hall, the campus was filled with enthusiastic pupils eager to discover new passions, reconnect with old interests and find their place within Wellington’s thriving co-curricular programme.

Creativity flourished across the Carnival. From the intricate craftsmanship of the Leather Crafting Society and the artistic expression of Life Drawing, to the storytelling of Drama, FilmSoc and WTV, there was no shortage of opportunities for pupils to explore their creative side. Music lovers gathered around Music, Dukebox and Listening Room, while Manga and Anime Society offered a space for pupils to share their enthusiasm for Japanese culture and storytelling.

Academic curiosity was equally well represented. Maths Soc, Politics Society, LawSoc, Debating, World History Society, Junior Classics and the UK Linguistics Olympiad challenged pupils to think critically, question assumptions and engage with ideas beyond the curriculum. Symposium and the Wellingtonian continued to provide platforms for discussion, reflection and student voice, while Higher Education and Careers and Life Beyond Wellington encouraged pupils to look ahead to the opportunities that await after school.

The International Students Committee sat alongside French, Spanish and German Enrichment and Introduction to Arabic, celebrating the diverse cultures, languages and perspectives that enrich life at the College.

For many pupils, societies are about much more than shared interests. Pride Soc, FemSoc and Open Door highlighted the importance of inclusion, support and belonging, creating welcoming spaces where pupils can build friendships and meaningful connections across the community.

Adventure and challenge also featured prominently. Wellington Outdoors Society, Angling Club, Skiing and Scuba offered opportunities to explore beyond the campus gates, while the Combined Cadet Force, including Cavalry and Field Gun, showcased pathways for leadership, teamwork and resilience.

Sporting pursuits were equally varied. Tennis, Girls’ Rugby, Equestrian, Kata and Self-Defence all attracted interest from pupils eager to develop new skills, challenge themselves and enjoy the benefits of belonging to a team.

What made the Carnival special was not simply the number of societies on offer, but the passion of the pupils behind them. Every stand represented a community ready to welcome new members, share experiences and create opportunities throughout the year ahead.

As sign-ups turn into meetings, rehearsals, competitions, expeditions and friendships, the true impact of the College Carnival will begin to unfold. Whether joining a long-standing favourite or trying something entirely new, pupils have the chance to discover talents, build confidence and create memories that will last long after the academic year has ended.

At Wellington College, there really is something for everyone, and the College Carnival was a joyful reminder that some of the most valuable lessons are learned beyond the classroom.
