The Contemporary Montgomery Competition took place in the final week of term, delivering an evening of outstanding music and performance from our students. With a diverse programme spanning jazz, pop and contemporary classics, the competition highlighted both the breadth of repertoire and the depth of talent within the department.

Audiences enjoyed a wide range of performances, from soulful renditions of Cry Me A River and I Have Nothing to energetic interpretations of Caravan and You Stole the Show. Each student brought their own style and personality to the stage, demonstrating not only technical ability but also confidence, musical sensitivity and a strong sense of performance.

The standard was exceptionally high throughout, making the adjudication particularly challenging. Isla J was awarded first prize, recognised for a performance that combined control, expression and maturity beyond her years.

Close behind were Cailun B, James M and Isabel S, who were named as runners-up. Their performances stood out for their individuality and musicality, each leaving a strong impression on both the audience and adjudicators.

The evening concluded with the adjudication and awarding of certificates, celebrating the commitment and creativity shown by all involved. The Contemporary Montgomery Competition once again provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and share their passion for contemporary music.
