Current Lower Sixth Former, Heather Cameron-Hayes’s journey on the BBC hit show, The Voice, is turning out to be one of the stories of the current series.

Having originally chosen to go with Team Boy George, following her initial audition, Heather’s hopes were dashed in the battles round when the 80’s pop legend decided not to take Heather on with him further in the show.

The drama was not over, however, as a transfixed audience watched Paloma Faith use her steal in order to add Heather to her team for the knock-out rounds.

As if this were not dramatic enough, Heather’s subsequent stripped back rendition, from the piano, of the Bonnie Tyler classic, ‘Holding Out for a Hero’, had the judges and the audience on their feet, and was enough to see her through to the live finals as one of the three remaining singers in Team Paloma. You can watch Heather’s performance here.

Heather has been a mainstay of the music scene at Wellington College for a number of years both as a solo singer songwriter and also in ensembles such as A Capella, and she is currently studying both Music and Music Technology for A-level. Anyone lucky enough to have seen Heather perform over the past few years will not easily forget the power and emotional impact of her performances, and everyone at the College wishes her every success as she now makes her way through the live shows.

Everyone within the Wellington Community is rooting for her and don’t forget to follow Heather’s progress on Saturday nights either on the BBC or via Twitter #TheVoiceUK.
