Saturday 6th August saw one of the highlights of this year’s Proms season when the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, featuring current Wellington Sixth Former Lucy Dundas (C) as co-principal bassoon, wowed a sell-out Royal Albert Hall with a dazzling performance of Holst’s The Planets and Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarthustra.

It has been quite a year for Lucy who became the first bassoonist ever to win the Junior Royal College of Music Concerto Competition earlier in 2016. She was also given special mention on a previous BBC broadcast for her solo in the NYO’s performance of Stravinsky’s ‘The Firebird’.

The NYO’s most recent performance at the Proms, under the baton of Edward Gardner, drew five-star reviews from a number of critics, including the Daily Telegraph, and was broadcast live via the BBC iPlayer. The breath-taking concert is still available to watch via the link below – it is well worth it.

Bravo Lucy!
