Montgomery Instrumental Competition

On Friday 11th June at 7.30pm in the Old Gym we welcomed Dawn Wren (CEO of Berkshire Maestros) to adjudicate the Junior Montgomery Instrumental Competition. The ten finalists (nine live in the Old Gym and one video from China!) entertained an invited audience comprising their parents and staff with a varied programme each lasting a maximum of 8 minutes. This was only the second event where parents and staff were allowed on site (as an audience) and it was truly wonderful to be able to listen to and see live music being performed once more. Despite being slightly nerve-racking for the pupils having been away from the stage for such a long time, they all performed magnificently which made the final adjudication very difficult! As in all competitions there has to be a winner and we were delighted to announce that Yi-Ann (cello) was awarded this accolade for 2021. In the adjudicator’s words: “She had a beautiful sound and captivated the audience from the start”. Gabby (viola) and Oscar (viola) were named as runners-up!
