Wellington College is proud to celebrate a landmark moment in its cricketing history, as Nishka and Zaara become the first female students to be added to the Cricket Honours Boards.
Nishka’s outstanding innings of 114* from just 63 balls against Framesby marks a historic first, the very first female name to be etched onto the board. Her innings was a masterclass in controlled aggression and composure, guiding the team to a total of 186.
Hot on her heels, Zaara ensured this was not just a moment of history but the beginning of something bigger. Alongside producing one of the most extraordinary bowling spells imaginable, five wickets in five consecutive balls, finishing with remarkable figures of 6–22 from 3.5 overs, she also delivered an unbeaten 101* against Somerset College. This innings secured her place on the Honours Board for scoring a century as well as recognition on the bowling board during the same tour.
As Lower Sixth students, both Nishka and Zaara have time firmly on their side with plenty of opportunities ahead to match and even surpass these incredible achievements. At a time when girls’ cricket is enjoying its highest ever levels of participation, their success is not only historic but inspirational, setting the standard for others to follow and aim to see their own names added to the board.
