Wellington College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two recent Old Wellingtonians, Will Alexander and Arthur Milles, who continue to shine on the national and international athletics stage.
Will Alexander (S 25) concluded his 2025 season in sensational style, being crowned Senior Boys English Schools Champion at the Combined Events Championships in Chelmsford. His victory capped off an outstanding season for the young athlete.
Will opened strongly, running 11.06 seconds in the 100m, before producing a superb 6.89m long jump and 13.60m shot put. He maintained momentum with a 1.77m high jump and a blistering 49.72-second 400m, ending day one just one point off the lead.
Day two saw Will showcase his versatility, running 14.71 in the 110m hurdles and throwing 40.37m in the discus to seize first place. From there, he never looked back – clearing 3.90m in the pole vault, throwing 48.00m in the javelin and finishing with a determined 5:03.13 in the 1500m. His total of 7,017 points secured the gold medal and a well-deserved place among the nation’s finest young athletes.
Meanwhile, OW Arthur Milles (Pn 25) will make his senior international debut representing Great Britain at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi (26 September – 5 October 2025).
Arthur, who competes in the T13 classification for visually impaired athletes, is a member of British Athletics’ Paralympic Futures Programme and will contest the 1500m. He lines up for the heats on the morning of 29 September, with the competition streamed live via the Paralympic Games YouTube channel.
Balancing his A-level studies with elite competition, Arthur still managed to deliver a standout performance this summer, setting a new Personal Best of 4:02.43 in the 1500m at the London Athletics Meet / Diamond League in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. His selection for Delhi represents an exciting milestone in his rapidly developing career.
Congratulations to both on their achievements and we wish Arthur the very best of luck on Monday as he begins his World Championships campaign.
