It has been an exceptionally busy period on the netball courts at Wellington College. This weekend alone saw 18 fixtures played across the age groups against Brighton and in the National Schools competition. Across the programme, players demonstrated impressive commitment and teamwork in what was a demanding and highly competitive schedule.
The highlight of the weekend came from the Senior team, who delivered an excellent performance at the National Schools qualifiers. After winning all but one of their group matches, the team progressed confidently through to the semi-finals with a 13–5 victory over Stowe. A closely fought final against Bhasvic saw the Seniors narrowly miss out on the title, but their second-place finish secured qualification for the National Schools Finals, which will take place on 14th March. The U16s also competed strongly at regional level, recording four wins across the tournament and narrowly missing out on qualification after finishing third in a competitive group.

Elsewhere, there were a number of strong performances across the age groups, including well-earned wins for the 2nd and 3rd teams, the U15Gs and U14Cs, as well as a dramatic one-goal victory for the U15Fs against Brighton. Across all fixtures, the depth of talent, determination and teamwork within the netball programme was on full display.
To top off an exciting period of netball, Wellington also enjoyed the annual netball vs rugby fixture — a much-anticipated and light-hearted event played in great spirit, with the netball girls ultimately coming out on top.
