On Thursday, Mr Gayton’s Spanish debating team, comprising of Sam G, Nicolas R, Amy P, Maddie C, and Duncan S, travelled to Cheltenham College to compete in the Spanish debating competition. The students debated three motions: the relevance of the Catholic Church in contemporary times, youth emancipation, and the future of AI. Coming top in their pool, Sam and Nico performed brilliantly in the final, debating about compulsory ID cards. They triumphed and won the whole competition!

A special mention goes to Duncan, who, not expecting to participate, volunteered to fill in for a debating pair that didn’t show up from another school, and he competed alone. He just missed out in the final of the plate, coming 4th overall in the whole competition.

Huge congratulations to all.
