Our team defied all odds to win the Copenhagen Shield this weekend at Guards Polo Club. We were the team with the lowest handicap, but every player stepped up and delivered when it mattered most. Their courage, teamwork, and character earned a brilliant victory, one the whole College community can be proud of.
The incredible scores were: Wellington (2.5) vs Harrow (2) Won , Wellington (3.5) vs Millfield (0) Won , Wellington (2.5) vs Harrow (3) Lost, and Wellington (6.5) vs Millfield (1) Won.
Captain Leo (Pn) led from the back with real authority, controlling the flow of the game, organising the team brilliantly, and constantly pushing his teammates to give their best. His sharp decision-making and ability to shape the play set the tone throughout. Aramaya (Pn) played with relentless energy, striking powerful, accurate long shots and challenging every opponent he faced. He was everywhere – backing up Leo, keeping the pressure on, and making sure we stayed in control. Charlie (M) showed fantastic horsemanship, combining athleticism and real skill in the saddle. His ability to read the game and switch quickly between defence and attack made a huge difference in every match. Elizabeth (T) did an outstanding job, marking her opponents out of the game with discipline and focus. Her measured and calm approach, along with her skill and awareness of the field, held strong throughout.
