Wellington College’s U16 Girls’ Hockey team have once again demonstrated the strength and consistency of the programme, reaching the England Hockey National Finals and finishing an impressive 4th in the country.

To compete at this level is a significant achievement in itself. The national finals bring together the very best school teams from across England, and reaching this stage again reflects both the quality of this group and the wider depth within Wellington hockey.

This latest success continues a pattern that has become a hallmark of the programme. Year after year, across multiple age groups, Wellington teams are progressing to the latter stages of national competitions, a reflection of sustained development, strong coaching, and a clear identity in how the game is played.

Across the finals, the U16 side competed with composure and determination, matching some of the strongest opposition in the country. Their performances were characterised by disciplined defending, intelligent movement and a collective understanding built over the course of the season.

A place in the top four nationally is a significant accomplishment and one the team can take great pride in.

Congratulations to the squad:

And to coach Robert Farrington on guiding the team to yet another National Final under his stewardship.

Just as importantly, this achievement reinforces the strength of the pathway within Wellington hockey. With players continuing to develop and younger age groups following similar trajectories, the programme remains in a strong position for continued success in the years ahead.

Reaching the national finals is never straightforward, doing so consistently is something to be recognised and celebrated.
