Wellington College is celebrating a superb moment in the season for girls’ hockey, marked by outstanding achievements both on the national stage and on the pitch.

Huge congratulations go to Eva (A) and Sophia (C), who have been selected for the England U16 squad, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects their talent and continued progression in the sport. We are equally thrilled for Nina (T), Georgia (Hp) and Cecily (O), who have earned places in the England U18 squad. Securing five national call-ups in one week is an extraordinary achievement and we are immensely proud of all the girls for reaching such a prestigious level. We can’t wait to cheer them on as they fly the flag for Wellington on the national stage.

Adding to this success, our senior team produced a brilliant performance at the indoor regional championships, winning the title and securing their place in the National Finals this December. The U16 Indoor team also enjoyed an excellent tournament, finishing as runners-up after a hard-fought final that ended in a penalty shootout.

This marks seven national finals for the hockey programme since 2022, a testament to the consistency, ambition and high standards shown across the programme.

These achievements represent another significant milestone for Wellington sport and highlight the commitment of our players and coaches in sustaining such exceptional levels of success. We extend our warmest congratulations to all involved.
