There is a long-standing tradition for Wellington’s Prefect Team to take on a challenge at the start of the academic year: an opportunity to build teamwork, test themselves and, most importantly, raise money for causes close to their hearts. There is usually the added bonus of putting a few members of staff through their paces too – Mr Dahl included!
This year, the challenge once again came in the form of Tough Mudder, with the Prefects taking on a course packed with mud, water and obstacles designed to test their strength, resilience and teamwork.
Joining the Prefect Team were members of staff who were brave enough to take on the challenge alongside them. From crawling through thick mud and plunging into icy water to tackling some of Tough Mudder’s most notorious obstacles, the course demanded determination from start to finish.
As ever, teamwork was at the heart of the day. Obstacles that would have been difficult to overcome alone became achievable with a helping hand, plenty of encouragement and, inevitably, a great deal of laughter along the way. By the time the team crossed the finish line, everyone had played their part in getting one another around the course.
Driving the team on was an even more important goal: raising money for two charities, All2Play4 and Style for Soldiers.
All2Play4 works to create opportunities and make sport and physical activity more accessible, while Style for Soldiers supports injured servicemen and women, providing clothing, walking sticks and other forms of practical support to help restore confidence and independence.
The Prefect Team would love to reach their fundraising target and every donation, large or small, will help support these two fantastic causes.
Well done to the entire team for taking on the challenge and proving once again that a combination of determination, humour and teamwork can conquer even the toughest of obstacles.
