Not many 16 year olds can say that they have had their research published in the Financial Times, but that is an achievement Wellington College pupil Alex D can proudly add to his CV.
Over the summer, Alex spent time in Tokyo on an internship with the Financial Times, where he was tasked with conducting research projects for the newspaper. One of the more challenging assignments focused on Japan’s booming global matcha tea industry. To his delight, his research was credited in a Financial Times article exploring Japan’s global matcha boom.
Currently a Lower Sixth student at the College, Alex is exploring his options for future study beyond Wellington and found the internship an invaluable opportunity to gain insight into the world of journalism, from research and fact-checking to seeing how major international stories are produced.
A talented guitarist who often performs at College events, notably Welly Unplugged, Alex has certainly added another string to his guitar.
Congratulations, Alex!
