On Wednesday 9th October, our Spanish HL and A Level students represented Wellington College at the Hispanic Theatre Competition held at North London Collegiate. After weeks of preparation and hard work, their efforts culminated in an outstanding performance that wowed the audience and judges alike.
The students performed a creative and humorous short play centred around a group of classmates struggling to study for an exam on the Spanish classic Don Quijote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. As they panicked over their lack of preparation, all the answers came to them in a dream, delivered through a song beautifully performed by Catrina SS. The play’s unique blend of comedy, music, and heartfelt emotion captured the essence of Cervantes’ work.
We are thrilled to announce that the evening was a great success, with Maisa AN taking home the award for Best Director. The head judge described our students’ performance as ‘fabulosa’!
A special thank you goes to the Spanish Department for their ongoing support and encouragement, which played a crucial role in the students’ success. The entire team felt the positive energy from the staff, and their additional practice sessions paid off in spades.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
