Few moments capture the spirit of cricket quite like a gathering of talented young players from top prep schools, coming together to share their passion and potential on our pitches.
Wellington was alive with energy on Wednesday 4th June as we hosted our annual Boys U11s Prep School Cricket Competition. This year, we were delighted to welcome teams from Papplewick, Hall Grove, St Neots, Crosfields, and Wellesley Prep for a day of high-spirited cricket, skill, and camaraderie.

The tournament followed an 8 and over, 11-a-side format with matches taking place simultaneously across two pitches. With five teams competing this year, the tournament ran in rotation, allowing the team not playing to take part in a masterclass coaching session with one of Wellington’s professional cricket coaches, a highlight for many of the players.

Across the day, the standard of cricket was exceptional. The young players demonstrated impressive skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, delighting staff, parents, and supporters alike. As always, it was a pleasure to see Turf buzzing with activity and to witness the enthusiasm these events bring to our campus.

To round off the day and before the rain, the players and their coaches enjoyed the famous Wellington BBQ, an always-popular tradition that perfectly capped off a memorable day of cricket.

At Wellington, we take great pride in offering young athletes opportunities to compete, develop their skills, and have fun in a senior school setting. We look forward to welcoming more prep schools to future tournaments.
