This term has been nothing short of spectacular for Wellington Golf, from national titles to international competition and unforgettable experiences across the UK and the US. Our students have once again proven themselves on every stage.

The highlight of the summer term came as our U15 team clinched the 2025 National Matchplay Championship, battling through 72 holes at the stunning Royal Ashdown Forest. With poise and determination, they edged out Reed’s School in a thrilling final, a fitting end to a brilliant campaign.

Earlier in the week, the same team topped the leaderboard in the scratch foursomes stableford before defeating St Leonards and Bedford in the knockout stages. The group: Seb H, Roland G, Emma P, Emily-May C and River W impressed not only with their golf, but also with their composure, teamwork and sportsmanship. What a way to cap off the year.

Our Fourth Form golf scholars enjoyed a week they’ll never forget, playing some of the finest courses in the region: Sunningdale New, Royal Ashdown Forest, Woking, Bearwood Lakes, East Berkshire, and Rye. The week concluded with the hotly contested Wellington Club Championships. A huge thank you to Reddam House for hosting a memorable match and to all the clubs that welcomed our students so warmly.

Jamie M delivered another standout performance during the Order of Merit round at Sunningdale, shooting a brilliant 68 in the rain to extend his lead in the Player of the Year race.

Wellington’s global presence continued to grow as a squad of students travelled to the US to compete in the prestigious Independent International Invitational. The team finished an impressive second overall, with Jamie M tying for second place individually.

Alongside fierce competition on world-class courses like Crumpin Fox and Taconic, students visited top US universities including Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, Rutgers, and Boston College. They met with coaches, toured elite facilities, and gained valuable insights into the collegiate golf pathway.

Every stop on the trip helped deepen our students’ understanding of college athletics and the admissions process. We’re hugely grateful to all the coaches, players, alumni, and university representatives who generously shared their time, insights, and expertise throughout the trip. Their support and hospitality gave our students an invaluable glimpse into collegiate golf and life at some of the world’s leading universities.

From the rolling hills of East Sussex to the campuses of the Ivy League, this has been a term defined by excellence, ambition and camaraderie. With a national title in hand, silverware from the US, and scholars eyeing international pathways, Wellington Golf continues to go from strength to strength.

Well done to all involved, and here’s to an even stronger year ahead.
